Admission Requirements for Bachelor's Degrees in Italy

Under the Italian Ministry of University (MUR) and consulate rules there are 3 key requirements: 12 years of schooling, your home country's entrance exam (if applicable) and at least B2 language level.

12 Years of Schooling

KEY RULE: you need 12 full years of schooling in total.

You need 12 years of primary and secondary schooling in total, with the last two years completed in the same country's education system. If your system has fewer years, a foundation programme can fill the gap.

Most school systems with 12 years of primary and secondary education meet this requirement. If your system has 11 years, Rome Consultancy can help you complete a foundation year in Italy.

Qualification Recognition (CIMEA / DoV)

We handle the official recognition of your secondary school diploma's 12 years of schooling.

Home-Country Entrance Exam

If applicable:

If your country requires a national entrance exam for university access (such as YKS in Turkey or Gaokao in China), you must have passed it. Otherwise your diploma is sufficient.

You do not need to have enrolled at a university in your home country; passing the exam is enough.

Exam Results Translation

We coordinate the sworn Italian translation of your exam results for your visa file.

English Language Proficiency

English-taught bachelor's programmes require at least B2 (usually IELTS 5.5–6.0).

Conditional Admission

If your language certificate isn't ready yet, we plan conditional admission at universities that allow you to submit it later.
