The Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) has raised the annual means of subsistence required for a student visa from €6,947.33 to €10,179.85. The new amount applies to the 2026/2027 and 2027/2028 academic years.
MUR has increased the minimum DSU grant amounts and the ISEE/ISPE income limits for 2026/2027 by 1.4%. Students from outside the city receive at least €7,171.11; the ISEE upper limit is €28,339.88.
IMAT, the entrance test for English-taught Medicine, Dentistry and Veterinary Medicine, took place on 29 September 2026. Italian-taught medicine now uses the 'semestre filtro'. The IMAT 2027 date has not been announced yet.
The rules for international students now cover two years. For 2027/2028 the visa application deadline is 31 October 2027, and enrolment on Universitaly must be completed by 31 January 2028.
