Italy Schengen Visa from Turkey: Documents, Fee and Timing

Short-stay (Schengen C) visa applications for Italy from Turkey are filed at iDATA. The visa fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6 to 12. We collected the Italian Consulate in Izmir's official document list, the proof-of-funds amounts and processing times.

Short answer: Turkish citizens and other residents of Turkey who need a visa apply for an Italian short-stay (Schengen C) visa at iDATA centres, on behalf of Italy's missions in Turkey. The consular fee is €90 for adults and €45 for children aged 6 to 12; children under 6 pay no fee. An iDATA service charge is added.

What documents do you need?

According to the Italian Consulate in Izmir's 2026 tourism visa list, the core documents are:

  • A completed Schengen visa application form, dated and signed (including field 37 and the last page)
  • One recent 35 x 40 mm photo with a light background
  • A passport valid for at least 3 months after the visa ends, with copies of it and of any old passports
  • A copy of your Turkish ID card, or your Turkish residence permit if you are a foreign national
  • Barcoded residence history and civil registry records from e-Devlet
  • Travel medical insurance valid across the EU with at least €30,000 cover
  • Hotel bookings, or an invitation from a person living in Italy with a copy of their ID or residence permit
  • Return flight reservations, or a route plan if you travel by car
  • Proof of means: stamped and signed bank statements for the last 3 months, payslips, and where relevant property deeds or rental contracts

Employees, business owners, retirees and students submit additional documents, such as an employer letter, social security records, a tax certificate or a school enrolment certificate. Minors travelling with one parent need the other parent's notarised and apostilled consent, no older than 3 months.

How much money do you need to show?

Length of stayMinimum for one person
1-5 days€269.60 in total
6-10 days€44.93 per day
11-20 days€51.64 fixed + €36.67 per day

For a 7-day trip, one person should show about 7 x €44.93 = €314.51, on top of accommodation and a return ticket. A bank statement showing regular income matters more than a one-off deposit.

How long does it take?

Under the Schengen rules, applications are normally decided within 15 calendar days, longer if extra checks are needed. You can apply up to 6 months and no later than 15 days before travelling. Appointments fill up in summer and holiday periods, so plan 1-2 months ahead.

Frequently asked questions

How do you pay the visa fee?

According to the consulate's list, visa fees are paid in cash, in Turkish lira, at the iDATA office.

Is a tourist visa enough to study in Italy?

No. University students need a national D visa for study, with different documents and a higher proof of funds. See our student visa checklist.

What are the most common reasons for refusal?

Missing or inconsistent documents, insufficient proof of means and an unclear purpose of travel.
